Fantastic Turn Out for Annual Empty Bowl Benefit for Community Shelter
Tuesday March 22nd Volunteers of America Wy & Mt had a fantastic turn out at Saint Peters Church for the 2nd Annual Empty Bowl to benefit the Sheridan Community Shelter. We not only raised much needed funds for the shelter, but we also raised awareness about the needs of the homeless in the community. Our event grew in attendance to more than 120 participants from 30 last year and we raised over $4000 !!
Volunteers of America received free PSA’s from Sheridan Media on three local radio stations, two free ads in the Country Bounty and a Public Pulse spot with Kim Price and Betty - a resident at the shelter. We also received two free community announcements in the Sheridan Press. Volunteers posted fliers all over the community, Gary Kopsa helped us get our flier in the Sunday bulletins at four local congregations and we had a number of individuals out and about raising funds and donations for the event.
Volunteers of America would like to personally thank all of the community, staff and sponsors who made this event a success. You are all VERY Much Appreciated!
We look forward to continuing this fun and important annual event in 2010 and hope for an even bigger & better turnout for the Sheridan Community Shelter.
If you attended the event and you have any requests for next year or comments then feel free to let us know. For more information about making a contribution to the Community Shelter at Volunteers of America or to take a tour of the programs offered, please contact Director of Development PJ Treide at (307) 672-0475 or visit www.voawymt.org.
